Post Natal Oil Massage (Abhyangam)

Oil massage is known to increase blood circulation, relieve tension in muscles, and reduces stress. It soothes the aching body and enhances the process of recovery easier and faster. It increases the production of Oxytoxin, which will result in better breast milk production and flow. Post-delivery Oil massage helps you better regain your health and glow.

After delivery, there will be changes both physically and emotionally, like lack of sleep, taking care of baby,  anxiety over baby’s health, hormonal changes, wondering and worrying about your body shape, etc effect during the postpartum period. This is usually considered postpartum stress. This post-partum period is considered a highly sensitive period and all the post-partum care systems as per Ayurveda place a great emphasis on encouraging fast healing, boosting immunity, and improving the production of milk.

For Normal delivery oil massage can start from the 7th day after the delivery.

For c – section, oil massage starts on the 14th day after delivery, as the wound healing takes time.

As per Ayurveda, you need to continue the massage routine for the first 40 days to get maximum benefits.

Packages are available from 7 days, 14 days, 21 days, 28 days, 40 days & 56 days.

Vethu Kuli (Medicated Hot Water Bath)

Medicated hot water/steam bath is practiced during the postpartum period. It helps to strengthen the lower back muscles, ligaments, muscles, tendons, and joints of the whole body. It reduces the muscular stress and strain during the delivery time and clears the skin.

Post Natal Abdominal Binding

Jeeva Ayurveda has a special belly wrapping technique. A long piece of fine cotton cloth is wrapped around the abdomen a few times and pulled snugly without tightening too much. This helps to strengthen the back and restore muscle and organs back to normal position. This also prevents the sagging of the abdomen muscles.

For Normal delivery, you can start binding your belly even after a few hours of birth.

For c section, you need to wait a couple of weeks (or more depending on your wound’s healing) to start binding the belly.

Baby Massage And Bath

After the umbilical cord falls off, a warm oil massage is one of the best care you can do for your Baby. It starts at the head and ends at the feet. Also include baby exercises like cycling the legs and flexing the leg against the belly etc. This helps their digestive tract and overall tone and flexibility. Following the oil massage, there is a warm bath. When dressing the baby, will place a few rasnadi choornam on the head over the soft spot to protect the brain and the very sensitive marma points located here. This whole process is done by a specially trained therapist, under the supervision of an experienced Ayurvedic Physician.
